Google Outdoor Dining In Backyard- What Am I Cooking? ~ Fine Dining In Melbourne

Tuesday

If you are planning to arrange a get together at your home then go for arranging it in the backyard this time. Outdoor dining has always been a great fun. Meeting your friends in the garden area in your backyard with variety of food and wines- what all you need for a wonderful get together!

I am saying all this because I experienced this thing recently. My family was planning to have a small get together with their friends. After we decided that we are going to arrange a party the problem was where we will make arrangements to make our guests sit as our dining room is a bit small and cannot accommodate more than 10 persons at a time. So we decided to have it in the backyard this time.

Arrangements were made. A proper outdoor dining ambience was created. My kids were really excited. But the thing I was still confused with is what shall I cook for my guests? After giving it a long thought, finally I decided to prepare four dishes. My dishes were Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ice Pops, Baked Apple Pie Layer Bars, Spiced Pork and Apple Burger with Maple Dijon, Apple Tortellini Salad with traditional drinks.

With my blog I am sharing one of the above recipes with you. Try this at home. I am sure you are going to love it. Let us prepare Baked Apple Pie Layer Bars. They are yummy, healthy and something that kids like the most.

Ingredients:
  • Sifted flour – 2 1/2 cups
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • 1 cup shortening
  • Egg - 1
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Crushed corn flakes - 2/3 cup
  • Seneca Apple Sauce - 1/2 cup
  • Peeled and Sliced apples - 5 cups
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Glaze:
  • Confectioners’ sugar – 1 cup
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons

How to Prepare?
  • Take flour, sugar and salt and mix them together. Cut some shortening with the help of knives.
  • Put egg yolk in the measuring cup and add milk to it to make it 2/3 cups.
  • Add it to shortening mixture. Mix it properly and give the dough shapes of balls. Roll out the dough into 15 x 11 inches rectangle.
  • Move it to the baking sheet. Cover it with the corn flakes.
  • Now add apple sauce along with the apple slices and add the mixture on the top of the corn flakes.
  • Mix sugar and cinnamon.
  • Sprinkle it over the mixture of apple.
  • Pinch the edges together.
  • Take the leftover white portion of the egg and beat it until it gets stiff and spread it on the top crust.
  • Bake it for 400 degree for 40 minutes in a hot oven.
  • Cut it into desired shapes.
  • Combine the lemon juice with the confectioners’ sugar to make glaze.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the fresh and hot apple pie from the oven.
This is really great in taste and I am sure if you ever organize any party at your home your guests would love this dish.
